Alex Afshar, MD

Alex Afshar, M.D. is a family physician. He completed his training at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, the Stamford Hospital in Primary Care in 2005. He was educated at The George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and Ross University in the British West Indies, where he earned his Medical Degree in 2001. 

Between 1995-1999 Dr. Afshar was involved in clinical trials at the Surgery Branch of National Institute of Health, National Cancer Institute, with publications and abstracts in Tumor Immunology and the Development of Approaches to the Immunotherapy of patients with cancer.  These studies have resulted in the first effective immunotherapies for selected patients with advanced cancer now used as an advanced cancer treatment protocol.

Dr. Afshar is a member of American Collage of Phlebology as well as American College of Family Physicians and joined the Family Health Care Center in June 2007 to be part of a successful team of primary care physicians.  He is married and has two children.  He enjoys reading, skiing, wakeboarding and gardening.
